Maple hold down blocks are now part of our line of custom architectural mouldings. We at 4M have been manufacturing custom architectural mouldings to perfection for over 35 years.
We know that the rubber stamp manufacturers rely on the same quality wood surface finish as the custom architectural woodworkers insist on. Our custom mouldings and cabinet parts, made of solid wood, are sold to the finest woodworking companies throughout the USA, and installed in buildings all over the world.
We have the finest moulders that money can buy, along with all the other necessary woodworking equipment to manufacture any other wood product that you may need made on a custom basis or mass production.
We produce maple hold down blocks in four ways for lengths.
WE CATER TO THE RUBBER STAMPERS
The following is our MENU...
#1 SIRLOIN - Lineal foot from 18" to 12'
If you cut your own blocks to length, these are your best buys for clear maple. They will yield 90% light color on three faces (top and two edges). If we are shipping UPS, lengths will be no longer than 8'. If specified we will select out lengths for you at a minimal up charge, usually 5%.
#2 PORTERHOUSE - 18" strips
If you cut your own blocks to length, this is your next best buy on clear maple. We take our long strips and defect cut for color and mineral. You can expect 95% clear, light color maple strips.
#3 FILET MIGNON!!! - Precut mounts
We take our long lengths and select the clearest part of that individual length to cut to your specified length. Yes, these are the most expensive but very labor oriented. All our employees wear very expensive glasses including our quality control person who inspects each and every block before being boxed and shipped.
#4 CHEAPER CUTS - 2" to 18" random length and various widths
As you can see from our descriptions above, we do a lot of defect cutting and accumulate an assortment of pieces that are too dark in color to sell as clear maple. However, these pieces are only considered defect because of their color; not because of major machining defects. They may require a little bit of sanding but still are of top quality and very usable.

EDGE SHAPES - Hourglass, S shaped, ) shaped
Remember, we are a custom moulding manufacturer. We do all our tooling in house. If you have a shape of your own and are going to be a repeat customer, we will do all tooling at no charge. Just send us your drawing or sample and we will manufacture the cutters.

We are also in the process of manufacturing storage cabinets for rubber stamps in five and ten drawer units constructed of heavy duty grade, all pine core particle board with solid hardwood fronts. Look for them on our site shortly.
ABOUT THE MATERIALS
You will notice that we at 4M never state 100% clear or all one color. As hardwood is a product of nature, natural variations in color, texture, and grain pattern are inherent and should be expected. We will be defecting only major variations in color and any holes, bark, wane, etc, along with any machining defects. Materials supplied will require minimal, if any, surface preparation prior to finish.
