WHITE OAK

Botanical Name: Quercus alba

The wood of the mighty white oak lives up to the reputation of the tree itself, a symbol of strength and dependability. The sap conducting pores are naturally plugged with the glistening water repellant substance, tyloses. It machines beautifully, glues well and holds nails and screws very well.

Did You Know?
The growing conditions of trees determines the various characteristics of the wood they produce. In the dense forest of high well drained hillsides, the trees will grow tall, fast and straight, reaching for the sun. The same specie grown in an open field on low wetlands, will produce a stocky, broad trunked, slow growing tree, with a harder, heavier, tougher grained wood.
