YELLOW PINE

Botanical Names: Pinus taeda, Pinus palustris, Pinus echinata and Pinus eliottii

Southern Yellow Pine grows fast and straight up with a clear long trunk. It is durable when properly handled, installed and finished. It is very stable in service. The upper grades take paint nicely, but the rich grain patterns lend themselves especially well to staining, pickling, and polyurethaning.

Did You Know?
Loblolly has the nickname "old fieldpine." It has earned this name because of its ability to quickly re-seed any open space. This tendency to invade old fields, springing up on land exhausted by agriculture, is playing an important role in successful attempts to restore the Eastern Seaboard of the US.
